Is a Glass Coffee Table Right For You?
Is a glass coffee table right for you? That is typically a much easier question to answer than most would think. The main concern most people have with a glass table is whether it can withstand normal every day use, especially if there are kids or pets in the home. What will happen when something is dropped on the glass? Will a glass top break if a child makes it fall?
These days it is almost mandatory that a manufacturer use tempered glass for items like glass coffee tables. Tempered glass is much safer than normal glass as it takes much more force to break and when it does break, it does so in a way that will not puncture skin easily.
That is not to say that there are not glass coffee tables out there that are not made of tempered glass. When doing your research for your glass table check with the seller to be certain that the glass is tempered. Tempered glass typically has a stamp on it clearly visibly stating that the glass is indeed tempered. This way you can be assured that your glass coffee table will be safe for every day normal wear and tear.
